The Zauchenseehof family hotel in Salzburger Land has been presenting itself with even more quality and holiday feeling since the 2025/26 winter season. The family hotel and traditional house of the Walchhofer host family welcomes its guests with a modern exterior and 64 newly renovated family rooms.
The restaurant world has been expanded: fresh dishes are prepared right before your eyes at the live cooking station – a real experience for all ages. There is also more on offer in the pool and wellness area: a 19 m pool in the indoor hotel pool and two adventure slides in the children’s swimming pool.
The highlight is the adults-only spa at the 4-star Zauchenseehof family hotel in Zauchensee: relaxing in the panoramic sauna and unwinding in the outdoor infinity whirlpool is now part of your family holiday.

Welcome to the snow paradise Altenmarkt Zauchensee in the Salzburg Sports World. The family ski area is located at 1350 m in the Ski amadé region with 210 connected kilometers of slopes and with connection to the Zauchensee-Flachauwinkl-Kleinarl ski area. Winter sports in the World Cup Arena Zauchensee: skiing, freeriding, snowboarding, ski touring, snowshoeing and winter hiking. With the 12-Peaks ski tour you can experience 12 peaks and 5 valleys in one day. Perfect family vacation at the Zauchenseehof: stylish rooms, ski lifts in the immediate vicinity, ski school office in the hotel, sports shops with equipment rental next door and the ski practice area for beginners right next to the hotel. There’s even more snow fun to be had with ski touring, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Ice skating, curling or tobogganing on one of the runs around Zauchensee-Altenmarkt provide a sporty change of pace. Horse lovers can take advantage of the winter riding opportunities or sleigh rides for the whole family through the snowy landscape. Yes, from the Zauchenseehof ski room, you can directly access the ski lift and ski slope. This way, you start your ski day with short distances directly from the hotel.
Is there a ski school for children directly at the hotel?
The office of the Walchhofer Ski School is located directly in Zauchenseehof, and the practice area is right by the building. Information on children’s courses, prerequisites, and booking can be found on our ski school pages.
Where can we store and rent our ski equipment?
For each room, a lockable, heated ski and boot drying locker is available in the ski room. You can conveniently open it with your room key card. Sports shops with ski and equipment rental can be found in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
What childcare is available in winter?
In the Happy Club, children aged 1 to 6 are looked after by experienced childcare professionals.
The program runs from Sunday to Friday and includes 57 hours per week according to the current service offering.

What catering can we expect during our winter holiday?
The described catering offer includes a breakfast buffet and in the evening a 4-course menu of choice with a salad buffet, as well as a dedicated children’s menu.
