The Zauchenseehof family hotel in Salzburger Land has been presenting itself with even more quality and holiday vibes since the 2025/26 winter season. The hiking hotel and traditional house of the Walchhofer host family welcomes its guests with a modern exterior and 64 newly renovated family rooms.
The restaurant world has been expanded: fresh dishes are prepared right before your eyes at the live cooking station – a real experience for all ages. There is also more on offer in the pool and wellness area: a 19 m pool in the indoor hotel pool and two adventure slides in the children’s swimming pool.
The highlight is the adults-only spa at the 4-star Zauchenseehof family hotel in Zauchensee: relaxing in the panoramic sauna and unwinding in the outdoor infinity whirlpool is now part of your family holiday.
Hiking holiday

Welcome to the hiking and mountain paradise of Zauchensee-Altenmarkt in Salzburger Land. There is a versatile network of hiking and cycling trails all around the Familotel Zauchenseehof. Tours start directly at the hotel or can be planned using the hiking bus. In summer, the Gamskogelbahn lift takes hikers up to 1,900 m, bringing them closer to the summit experience. A perfect mountain summer in Zauchensee: hiking routes from easy to challenging, running, cycling and mountain biking, swimming and bathing in the mountain lake. And after an active summer day, head to the Zauchenseehof's newly designed sauna and spa world with a family sauna, infinity whirlpool, and adults-only spa. The hotel bar lounge of the 4-star hotel offers conversations in a pleasant atmosphere. Drinks and snacks are served here from the afternoon onwards.
Magic Mountains
With the Magic Mountains package, from June to September it's: welcome to the Magic Mountains Club with supervision and programs for 3 to 17-year-olds: Magic Mini Fruits, Magic Kids, Magic Teens, Magic Youth. The sports program is diverse: surfing, sailing, SUP, beach volleyball, football, hiking, cycling, e-biking, archery, dancing, and much more. The Magic Center is within walking distance of the Zauchenseehof family hotel. All activities start here, and the use of the sports equipment there is included. Fully looked after with the all-in food offer: when booking the Magic Mountains package in summer, breakfast, lunch (optional packed lunch), dinner, and cold (non-alcoholic) soft drinks during the day and until 10 PM are included. The whole family benefits from the Magic Mountains Card in the form of discounts and free mountain railway rides.
