Winter vacation in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee has a lot to offer even away from the ski slopes. From the family hotel Zauchenseehof, winter hikes, ski tours, or snowshoe hikes are possible. The region’s well-developed cross-country ski trail network is groomed for both classic and skating styles. Those who prefer to descend on runners can test the toboggan runs with the family, day or night. For après-ski, head to the Schirmbar near the hotel or the Almbar with bowling lanes at the Zauchenseehof.

The Tauernkarbahn leads to the Rauchkopf with the Rauchkopfhütte and the Sonnalm. On the back side is the Tauernkar drag lift with a blue slope.
Zauchi's Kinderland, including a magic carpet, platter lift, and carousel, is the ideal practice area for little ski beginners.
The 10-seater Schwarzwandbahn leads to the Gamskogel. From there, you can access the EAST freeride area, the Zauchensee World Cup slope, or various downhill runs into the valley.
The two sections of the Gamskogel chairlifts offer excellent slope conditions well into April. For a sunny break, head to the Gamskogelhütte.
The Unterberg steep slope is one of the most beautiful ski slopes in the Eastern Alps. Blue slopes are available in the flatter Unterberg II section, and children can let loose in the fun park.
The Rosskopfbahn is the gateway to the ski area with 210 connected kilometers of slopes. It is also a starting point for the 12 Peaks Trophy.
Directly at the Zauchenseehof is the Practice Lift See with beginner terrain. The ski school's final races take place here.
