The snow-sure family ski area of Zauchensee is perfect for a ski vacation in Austria. It sits at 1,350 m altitude and is part of the Ski amadé ski network in the Salzburg Sports World region. From the ski-in/ski-out hotel Zauchenseehof, you head straight to the Zauchensee cable cars and onto the slopes. Children’s ski lessons as well as ski courses for teens and adults can be booked at the Walchhofer Ski School office in the Zauchenseehof. The family hotel in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee also offers a varied indoor play area, a pool area with slides for children, and a stylish wellness oasis with saunas and an adults-only spa.

Families benefit from the ideal location of the ski-in/ski-out hotel Zauchenseehof right on the slopes. From the 4-star hotel in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, it’s a short walk to the valley station of the Rosskopf 8-seater gondola. At the Zauchenseehof family hotel, the Walchhofer Ski School runs an office for booking ski and snowboard courses. From the family hotel, both the meeting point for the children’s ski lessons and the practice lift are easy to reach on foot. The Bambini courses for children aged 4 to 5 start in Bobo’s Kinderland right by the Zauchenseehof. Sports shops with equipment rental are located very close to the hotel.
Zauchenseehof guests also stay flexible on a family ski vacation without a car: With the Salzburg Verkehr Guest Mobility Ticket, overnight guests can use public transport (scheduled bus or ski bus) throughout SalzburgerLand free of charge during their stay.

Family winter in Zauchensee
The Zauchensee-Flachauwinkel ski area is connected to the Ski amadé region of the Salzburg Sports World. The home ski area of downhill world champion and World Cup winner Michael Walchhofer boasts very good snow conditions in winter: Natural snow falls plentifully in Zauchensee thanks to its altitude (1,350 m) and its northern exposure.
Together with the expansion of technical snowmaking, Zauchensee enjoys very good slope conditions from December through April. With the Seekarsee reservoir lake, the ski area has a powerful basis for snowmaking. You can find current snow depths as well as information on open slopes and lifts in the official snow report for Altenmarkt-Zauchensee.
For beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts, 210 connected kilometers of slopes are available across 12 peaks and 5 valleys.

Zauchensee is part of the Ski amadé region and is the highest ski area in the Salzburg Sports World. It’s perfect for skiing and snowboarding with the family in Austria. The Ski amadé slope network includes, among others, the ski areas:

With just 1 ski ticket, you can explore 12 peaks, 5 valleys and 210 kilometers of slopes.
The snow-rich and snow-covered Zauchensee ski area offers slopes for families, beginners and advanced skiers. Freeriders and snowboarders will also find varied descents, ski routes and freestyle options around Zauchensee. And getting to the snow fun is quick, with only 2 hours by car from Munich.

The Walchhofer family and Zauchensee
Zauchensee is the home of downhill world champion and World Cup winner Michael Walchhofer. The Walchhofer family’s close connection to skiing also shapes the Zauchenseehof and is part of the special character of your ski vacation. Freestyle fans will get their money’s worth at the 1.5-kilometer AbsolutPark in Flachauwinkel. More than 100 obstacles offer the right challenges for beginners and experienced freestylers. The Bambini courses, with lots of fun on the magic carpet, take place in Bobo’s Kinderland at the Zauchenseehof.
For breaks, there are rustic huts in the ski area where you can stop in. Right in Zauchensee, après-ski bars invite you to unwind after a sunny day on the slopes.

With its World Cup arena, Zauchensee is a Women’s Ski World Cup venue. In addition, FIS World Cup races are held on the Kälberloch World Cup course. Here, co-organizer Michael Walchhofer contributes his sporting expertise and many years of experience.
For World Cup fans, there is the inclined lift "World Cup Express" to the World Cup start viewpoint on Gamskogel at just under 2,200 m above sea level.
Professional training center Kogelalm
The training center is a top option for ski club and company ski races in the Salzburg Sports World. The facility includes 2 training runs as well as 1 race course with free timing, away from regular slope operations.
Use of the training runs is free of charge – registration and reservation are required. The Kogelalm drag lift enables a short training loop.
